UE dice que mantendrá a las FARC en lista terrorismo

La Unión Europea (UE) mantendrá a los rebeldes colombianos de las FARC en su lista de terrorismo, dijo el martes el jefe de Política Exterior del bloque, respaldando al presidente colombiano, Alvaro Uribe, en su lucha contra el grupo marxista.

Uribe tiene nuestro total apoyo en su lucha (...) contra el terrorismo," dijo Javier Solana a periodistas tras reunirse con Uribe, quien realiza una gira europea para discutir alternativas para liberar a docenas de rehenes retenidos por los rebeldes de las Fuerzas Armadas Revolucionarias de Colombia (FARC).

"Los terroristas deben liberar a los rehenes sin condiciones," agregó Solana.
El presidente venezolano, Hugo Chávez, quien a principios de este mes medió en la liberación de dos políticas secuestradas por los rebeldes, ha dicho que las conversaciones de paz sólo pueden progresar si se califica al grupo de insurgente, no terrorista.

Pero Uribe rechazó este pedido y la UE respaldó su postura.

Consultado acerca de si la UE consideraría retirar a las FARC de su lista negra, Solana respondió: "La respuesta es no (...) no hay razón para cambiar nuestra postura."

Policía Colombiana destruye 69 laboratorios para producir cocaína

La policía de Colombia destruyó 69 laboratorios para producir cocaína en una operación antidrogas hecha en una zona selvática del noroeste del país, donde se confiscaron 1.400 kilos de la droga, informó el martes un oficial de alto rango.

Los laboratorios y la droga fueron ubicados en una zona selvática, en jurisdicción de los municipios de Taraza y Puerto Libertador, en los departamentos de Antioquia y de Córdoba, dijo el director de la Policía Antinarcóticos, general Alvaro Caro.

Esa región fue controlada recientemente por escuadrones paramilitares de ultraderecha, que entregaron las armas en una negociación de paz con el Gobierno.

Pero en la zona han reaparecido en los últimos meses guerrilleros izquierdistas vinculados con el narcotráfico, del que obtienen millonarios ingresos para financiar su levantamiento en armas contra el Estado, en un conflicto interno de más de cuatro décadas que cobra miles de vidas.
Colombia es considerado el primer productor mundial de cocaína, con unas 610 toneladas métricas al año.

En el 2007 las Fuerzas Armadas confiscaron más de 127 toneladas de cocaína, según estadísticas oficiales.

Big work of Mexican police

Eleven alleged hit men for the powerful Sinaloa drug cartel were captured Tuesday at two Mexico City mansions stocked with grenades, automatic weapons and body armor — a day after Mexican authorities reported nabbing one of the cartel's leaders.

Police said it was the first time they have found a safe house linked to the cartel in the capital city.

The 11 were captured during two pre-dawn raids in southern Mexico City, said a federal police official at the scene, who spoke on condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to talk to the press. Eight men were arrested in one of the raids and three in the other.

The alleged hit men, whose identities were not released, were lined up in the mansions' spacious living rooms and presented to reporters alongside a cache of seized weapons, including fragmentation grenades, machine guns and materials presumably intended for constructing a drug lab.

Police also found bulletproof vests, some of which bore the initials FEDA, which the official said was believed to be a Spanish acronym for "Arturo's Special Forces."

Arturo Beltran Leyva is one of five brothers believed to be top lieutenants of the Sinaloa drug cartel, based in the northwestern Mexican state of the same name. A second brother, Alfredo Beltran Leyva, was arrested early Monday in the Sinaloa capital of Culiacan with two suitcases containing $900,000, an assault rifle, a luxury SUV and 11 expensive watches, the army said.

Το ηφαίστειο Γκαλέρας βρίσκεται στα 4.275 μέτρα πάνω από την επιφάνεια της θάλασσας και είναι ένα από τα πολλά ηφαίστεια της Κολομβίας, όμως ένα από τα ελάχιστα ενεργά!

Οι αρχές της Κολομβάις βρίσκονται σε ετοιμότητα και προσπαθούν να "πείσουν" τους κατοίκους της περιοχής να απομακρυνθούν...

Γήπεδο Γκράφιτι το Στάδιο "Αζτέκα" στο Μεξικό!

To διάσημο γήπεδο "Αζτέκα" του Μεξικού, το οποίο έχει φιλοξενήσει πολύ μεγάλα αθλητικά γεγονότα, μεταξύ των οποίων τους τελικούς Παγκοσμίου Κυπέλλου το 1970 και το 1986, αλλάζει όψη.

Η διοίκηση του ιστορικού γηπέδου, σε συνεργασδία με τον Υπουργό Δημόσιας Τάξης, πήραν την απόφαση να δοθεί ένα τέλος στην άθλια εικόνα με τα γραμμένα συνθήματα που είχαν κατακλύσει τον περιβάλλοντα χώρο, και για το λόγο αυτό φώναξαν πλήθος νέων ανθρώπων που ασχολούνται με το γκράφιτι, προκειμένου να "κοσμήσουν" με χρώματα, ζωγραφιές και εικόνες την περίμετρο του γηπέδου (περίπου 3000 τετραγωνικά μέτρα).

Έτσι, 200 "σχεδιαστές" απέκτησαν το δικαίωμα να συμμετάσχουν στην "αναβάθμιση" αυτού του ιστορικού αθλητικού χώρου, με την πηγή έμπνευσής τους να είναι -τί άλλο- πρόσωπα που έχουν γράψει τη δική τους ξεχωριστή ιστορία στο παγκόσμιο ποδόσφαιρο. Οι Πελέ (πρωταθλητής κόσμου το 1970 στο γήπεδο αυτό), Μαραντόνα (κατέκτησε το 1986 το Μουντιάλ με την Εθνική Αργεντινής, σε μία διοργάνωση που είχε φαρδιά-πλατιά την υπογραφή του), όπως και ο Πάπας Ιωάννης Πάυλος ΙΙ έχουν την... τιμητική τους, μεταξύ των 300 καρικατούρων που ζωγραφίστηκαν, ενώ μία εταιρία ανέλαβε να καλύψει τα έξοδα για την αγορά των 9000 κουτιών με μπογιά, τα οποία χρειάστηκαν για την πραγματοποίηση του έργου.

Venezuela acusó a gobierno colombiano...

Venezuela ratificó hoy su propuesta de avanzar en una fórmula para humanizar el conflicto colombiano y acusó al gobierno de ese país de estar obsesionado con la guerra.

Un comunicado de la Cancillería asegura que en lugar de poner su empeño en construir una solución política el gobierno del presidente Álvaro Uribe busca cualquier pretexto para justificar su lógica militarista.

El presidente Uribe no está comprometido con el intercambio humanitario, sino “ciegamente empecinado en demostrar sus argumentos de guerra” y más interesado por salvar las apariencias que por las vidas de sus conciudadanos, expresa la declaración.

Agrega que las autoridades del vecino país arremeten contra el presidente venezolano, Hugo Chávez, por su éxito en la liberación de rehenes y por haber explorado el único camino hacia la paz, mediante el diálogo y el entendimiento.

Precisa que el gobierno colombiano “ocupa más su tiempo en mendigar la indulgencia interesada del gobierno imperial de los Estados Unidos de América” en lugar de crear condiciones para que cientos de familias vuelvan a reunirse.

Sports centers in Nicaragua!

Several sports centers for high performance athletes, to train promising young sportspeople, will be opened on Thursday and Friday in Guatemala, with attendance of two former Cuban track stars.

Runners Ana Fidelia Quirot and Alberto Juantorena, who is the current vice president of the sports authority in Cuba and president of the Cuban Track and Field Federation, will participate in the opening ceremonies, invited by the local authorities.

Of those centers, one will open on Thursday in this capital, and others in the city of Quetzaltenango, almost 9,842 feet over the sea level, and in Mazatenango, in the Guatemalan Pacific coastal area.

The mentioned centers, together with those in eastern Zacapa and Izabal, in the Caribbean, are part of the Si Deportes (Sports, Yes) project, which is supported by Cuban trainers and specialists in different disciplines.

The program, conceived to train sportspeople in short and long terms, has already registered 498 students in its five centers.
