Cuba slams USA-Israel nuclear bias

Cuba is highly concerned with the US government double standard which supports a nuclear weapons program in Israel, while harassing certain countries safe nuclear energy programs.

Cuban delegate Camilo Garcia said the above Tuesday at Non Proliferation Treaty (NPT) UN meeting in this city, adding that Washington's complicity is destructive for the stability in that zone.

Garcia stressed that Israel, the only country of the region that is not member of the NTP or has expressed its attempt of doing so, must join without delay the Treaty and put its nuclear facilities to the IAEO safeguards.

"That will establish a Free Nuclear Weapons Zone in the Middle East, what also be an important contribution to the aim of nuclear disarmament and mean a significant step in the peace process in such region," he noted.

Garcia pointed out that Cuba, current president of the Non-Aligned Movement, must stop the transference to Israel of all kind of equipment, information, material and facilities, resources or devices of the nuclear field.

Cuba defends China for Olympics

Cuban Olympic Committee (COC) president Jose Ramon Fernandez condemned the campaign to damage international confidence in China to fulfill commitments and organize the 2008 Olympic Games.

The COC is firmly opposed to those attempts to interfere in China's internal affairs, while recognizing and totally supporting efforts by the Olympic Committee and the Chinese government and people to guarantee success in Beijing.

Fernandez told Prensa Latina that this sovereign and indivisible nation, with a glorious history, one-thousand-year culture, a responsible government and virtues to accompany this people and athletes, could not be pressed or blackmailed. The COC, as well as the Cuban government, approved the appointment of China as a venue of the 29th Olympic Games.

The International Olympic Committee said China has unquestionable prestige and undeniable success in the world Olympic movement.Fernandez noted that as International Olympic Committee president Jacques Rogge said in his Declaration, "to have appointed the most densely populated country of the world as venue of the Olympic Games will give an opening to the Olympic movement to one fifth of humanity."

According to the COC president, it is sad that some non-governmental organizations and institutions and mass media have joined in a campaign against China and even encourage a boycott.

"We can not impose the Olympic movement and the international community to the law of the jungle," said Fernandez before starting sessions of the 16 General Assembly of the National Olympic Committees.

Fidel Castro denounces Imperialism´s monstrous crime in Ecuador

Fidel Castro denounced that Imperialism has just committed a monstrous crime in Ecuador, when deadly bombs were dropped in the early morning hours on a group of men and women who, almost without exception, were asleep.

"Any concrete accusations against that group of human beings do not justify that action", Fidel Castro stressed in an article entitled "Rafael Correa", released here today.

"They were Yankee bombs, guided by Yankee satellites," he outlined.
Absolutely no one has the right to kill in cold blood. If we accept that imperial method of warfare and barbarism, Yankee bombs directed by satellites could fall on any group of Latin American men and women, in the territory of any country, war or no war", he warned.

After remarking that "we are not enemies of Colombia", Fidel Castro warned, though, that "if we keep quiet we shall become accomplices."

"Correa has in his hands the few survivors and the rest of the bodies. The two which are missing prove that Ecuadorian territory was occupied by troops that crossed the border. Now he can cry out like Emile Zola: J’accuse!," he concluded.
