Venezuela extolls late Colombian leader
Venezuelan Foreign Minister Nicolas Maduro called on the people to sep social justice and peace during an event to mark the 60th anniversary of the assassination of Colombian popular leader Jorge Eliécer Gaitan.
In his speech devoted to Gaitan, Maduro ratified the Caracas message of peace to the people of the neighboring nation.From the government of Venuela, said Maduro, we want to convey "a message of peace-search above any obstacle or circumstance."
With Gaitan's assassination, "Colombia witnessed a long period of armed conflict and violent confrontation through our time," without a visible end.Venezuela's top diplomat also announced that on April 11-13 the Venezuelan people will recall "the sixth anniversary of the attempted imperialist coup to impose a fascist dictatorship and reverse the process of revolutionary change."
