Bolivian President Evo Morales ruled out the possibility his government declares the State of Siege in the eastern department of Santa Cruz, whose authorities foster an autonomous referendum, revoked by the National Electoral Court and Congress for considering it illegal.
In conversation with media at Palacio Quemado, Morales pointed out that the extreme measure is given due to media versions that also contribute to destabilize the country, but those are false, he indicated.
Morales clarified that it was never thought to militarize Santa Cruz to prevent the consultation of May 4.Any solution to political or economic matters will first be analyzed before happening.
He also explained that any initiative of structural change as departmental autonomies will progress within the framework of legality and not by impositions, because it puts in danger national unity.
Morales asserted he hopes with optimism the results of an encounter summoned for Monday night by the Catholic Church and opposition prefects from Beni, Pando, Santa Cruz and Tarija (Media Luna) and the one of Cochabamba.Likewise, he summoned a dialogue without conditions, destined to solve the political crisis the country is going through.
