Argentine President Cristina Fernandez is to officially visit Ecuador Sunday, to strengthen bilateral relations, official sources reported.Fernandez and her delegation will arrive in Quito Sunday night.
On Monday she will meet with Ecuadorian President Rafael Correa at the Palacio Carondelet (the Presidency headquarter), the Foreign Ministry announced.During this first official visit to Ecuador, Fernandez and Correa will sign an agreement for the construction of the Coca Codo Sinclair hydroelectric power station, Ecuador's largest power plant.
The plant will be located in the eastern region of the country, between the provinces of Napo and Sucumbios. With a 1,500 MW capacity, the Coca Codo Sinclair plant will be more powerful than the Paute plant, which generates 1,000 megawatts.Correa and Fernandez will also sign a joint statement and several agreements that will strengthen political and commercial relations between Ecuador and Argentina.
