Venezuela recalls coup from France
The showing of the Belgian film Medias contre Tambous was used to reflect on the present situation in Venezuela after six years of a failed coup d'etat against President Hugo Chavez.
At the headquarters of the Venezuelan embassy in this capital many people came together to watch the film on influence of the media in the attempted coup against Chavez.
Teodoro Petkoff, media expert from the South American country, ex minister and failed presidential candidate in 2006, said that Venezuela media plays dirty."Like everywhere, there is no objectivity because there are opinions and preconceptions," he said.
The documentary showed the difficult battle of young reporters and people interested in promoting and supporting the radio and community TV channels which are seeking for a balance of information in that country.
The Le Monde Diplomatique editor in chief Maurice Lemoine assured that control of the media by Caracas bourgeoisie in the interest of removing a president has repeatedly confirmed to be harmful for Venezuela."They have an obsession and a clear goal, although it is evident that they are a minority and that popular support of Hugo Chavez is very solid, he added.
