The United States freed and repatriated to Mexico the notorious drug-trafficker Francisco Rafael Arellano Felix, alleging that his good behavior led to a reduction of the sentence ruled by a court, according to media reports Wednesday.
Arellano is the oldest brother of a family that controls a Mexican drug cartel. He was supposed to serve a six-year sentence in prison, but served just a little over two years.
At a certain point he was also a leader of the Tijuana drug cartel and is currently the only chief of the Arellano Felix group that has been released.He was the first important drug trafficker sent to the US in compliance with a request from a US court.
