The memorial service offered in Quito by the Latin American Human Rights Association to honor the Mexican students killed in an attack by the Colombian army on Ecuadorian territory made headlines here on Thursday.
Local media described the mass and published photos of the ceremony, including images of the killed students and their wounded comrade, 27-year-old Lucia Moret, who remains in hospital.
Reports said that the urns containing the ashes of the young Mexicans, who were university students in this capital, would be brought home today covered with the Mexican flag.The Mexican students were massacred, along with 23 guerrillas, on March 1, when the Colombian army raided a camp of the Colombian Revolutionary Armed Forces (FARC).
