Cuba slams USA-Israel nuclear bias

Cuba is highly concerned with the US government double standard which supports a nuclear weapons program in Israel, while harassing certain countries safe nuclear energy programs.

Cuban delegate Camilo Garcia said the above Tuesday at Non Proliferation Treaty (NPT) UN meeting in this city, adding that Washington's complicity is destructive for the stability in that zone.

Garcia stressed that Israel, the only country of the region that is not member of the NTP or has expressed its attempt of doing so, must join without delay the Treaty and put its nuclear facilities to the IAEO safeguards.

"That will establish a Free Nuclear Weapons Zone in the Middle East, what also be an important contribution to the aim of nuclear disarmament and mean a significant step in the peace process in such region," he noted.

Garcia pointed out that Cuba, current president of the Non-Aligned Movement, must stop the transference to Israel of all kind of equipment, information, material and facilities, resources or devices of the nuclear field.
