Latin America Union leaders meet in Quito


Hundreds of Latin American Union leaders meet in Quito on Monday to discuss current problems of workers at the Our America Trade Union Meeting.The event, organized by the Ecuador Workers Union (CTE) and Brazil (CTB) will be extended until Wednesday and will tackle capitalist globalization, labor and migration, among other issues.

It is a meeting that involved Latin American union organizations directed to strengthen the groups work and achieve a regional integration, highlighted Ramon Cardona, secretary of the World Union Federation (WUF).

Cardona highlighted the WUF support to the meeting that also count with the support of Ecuadorian unions interested in obtaining presence of the working class in the present process of changes taking place in the region with progressive governments.

He noted that the meeting is attended by delegations from Colombia, Venezuela, Mexico, Chile, Uruguay, Peru, Bolivia, Nicaragua, Cuba and the host country, among others.

The participants will join working tables to debate on relations between empire and nation, sovereignty and self-determination, integration and situation of labor in Latin America.At the end of the event a final declaration will be approved that will be called Quito's Letter and will be used to fortify the working class activity.
